Features

1972½ De Tomaso Pantera L s/n 04315 was built in July, 1972, released by De tomaso on June of 1973 and sold new through The Kumph Motor Car Company. In 2016 s/n 04315 was sold to the current owner who then had his in-house mechanic and detailer start a massive 1,500 hour restoration and detail. The engine and transaxle were pulled for detail work and the front and rear compartments were stripped to bare metal and refinished to a much higher-than-new standard. The water hoses and complete suspension were removed and the entire under-floor was stripped to bare metal, re-sealed and re-undercoated to a higher-than-new standard. The steering rack, suspension arms and suspension bushings were all rebuilt and powder-coated. New upgraded adjustable shocks and springs were fitted. The ZF transaxle was inspected and new ring gear bolts were fitted and safety wired in place. The carburetor, ignition wires, distributor cap, rotor, starter and alternator were all replaced or rebuilt, the AC system was treated to a replacement and an upgraded 3-speed fan now blows ice-cold. The clutch assembly, flywheel, all hoses, belts, brakes and brake lines, the master cylinder, brake bleeders and harmonic balancer were all replaced or rebuilt. Additionally, various electrical wiring and switches, the sunroof, the headliner, the carpets, the gas tank, the exhaust and manifold gaskets, the engine mounts, seat foam padding, battery, horns, ignition switch/lock, thermostat and gasket, door hardware, various bulbs and switches were all replaced, recovered, stripped and powder-coated or rebuilt as necessary. The manifolds and exhaust system were ceramic coated. When completed, Pantera s/n 04315 was wet sanded, compounded and polished. Then a $4,000 ceramic coating was applied. Pantera s/n 04315 is one of the few Panteras on the market that still has its original matching (#03266) engine number.

Pantera s/n 04315 is finished in black over a dent-free body with an as-new black interior. The body and chassis are accident free, rust free and are as clean underneath as topside. It is mounted on Michelin Pilot Sport Tires (245/45 ZR 16 front – 335/35 VR 17 rear) on gorgeous extra-wide 8″ x 16″ front and 11″ x 17″ replica Campagnolo rear wheels which were made by Pantera East. Pantera s/n 04315 also comes with the original 7 x 15 inch front and 8 x 15 inch rear cast magnesium Campagnolo wheels. The panels are straight and panel fit is excellent. The paint is excellent and the bright trim is as new, as are the lights and glass. All systems were rebuilt, restored, serviced and sorted. The car is completely solid and devoid of rust and it certainly bears being highlighted as one of the most important characteristics of this car. The engine compartment is better than new. The transaxle, engine, inner fenders and suspension are clean. Pantera s/n 04315 runs and drives extremely well with great power through the RPM range. The engine is well-tuned, and sounds as it should, with the quintessential American V8 rumble. The car is powerful and moves easily through modern traffic. The transaxle shifts superbly, with excellent synchromesh, even when cold. The brakes are effective, and the steering and suspension are free from any play. There are zero overheating problems thanks to the upgraded cooling system including a high capacity Fluidyne radiator. It is a structurally excellent example that makes a strong cosmetic impression and delivers exceptional performance, retaining the purity of the early 1970s cars. Has 48,397 miles and comes with the Marti Report
