We are pleased to offer 1972 USA model Ferrari 365 GTC/4 s/n 15787, in all probability the only one-owner 365 GTC/4 on the planet, with all paperwork back to the original warranty card, the original bill of Sale to the current (and only) owner, period correspondence from the Factory, the original shipping docs to the owner and more. Comes with the original leather carrying pouch, the owner books, the warranty card and the original briefcase tool kit with both trays of tools. Over the last ten years 365 GTC/4 s/n 15787 has been treated to a full mechanical and cosmetic restoration, with a fully rebuilt and dyno tested engine, a rebuilt trans and diff, a fully rebuilt suspension and brakes, a bare metal repaint, an all new leather interior and new “mouse-fur” on the dash and console. We have all historical, service and restoration paperwork and the dyno sheets on file, plus hundreds of photos of the restoration in process. Call or e-mail is for copies.
Older readers will remember the 1973 oil crisis which began in October 1973 when the members of OAPEC (the Organization of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries) proclaimed an oil embargo and gasoline rocketed from 33 cents a gallon to a then-unthinkable $1.00 a gallon in only a month. Exotic car sales plummeted. 1972 USA model Ferrari 365 GTC/4 s/n 15787 was then a new-and-unsold car in inventory at Ayache, the authorized Ferrari dealer for Lebanon, and was not sold to its current owner until 09 August, 1974, arriving in LA in Nov., 1974. Today 365 GTC/4 s/n 15787 has only 22,539 total miles over its 48 years, so driven a mere 469 miles per year over its ownership, and only a few hundred miles since the full mechanical and cosmetic restoration.
The engine was fully rebuilt and dyno tested by Carobu Engineering to 353.2 hp @ 6,300 rpm with an impressive 352.1 lb ft of torque at 4,300 rpm. We have photos of the dyno run and the dyno sheets on file. The front mounted transmission, the torque tube and the differential were all rebuilt. The entire suspension was rebuilt, rebushed, replated and powder coated to as-new standards. All six shocks were rebuilt. All four brake calipers were rebuilt and replated and the emergency brake system was overhauled. Both rear axles and CV joints were overhauled. New ANSA mufflers and tailpipes were re-hung, recoated and installed. New heat shields were installed. All oil, cooling, heater, power steering and A/C hoses were replaced and the engine oil temperature thermostat was rebuilt. The A/C compressor and power steering pump were rebuilt. The heater boxes, fans, valves, controls and cables were rebuilt or replaced. The Becker radio was overhauled and new speakers were fitted. New fuel pumps were installed, both fuel tanks were recoated and a new fuel filter, fuel hoses and crossover hoses were installed. The pedal box was rebuilt. All electrical switches were replaced as necessary. The complete interior was restored with all new leather on the front and rear seats, the side panels and inner wheel arches and door panels, with new cloth seat and door panel inserts in the correct color and patterns. The dash and center console were recovered in period-correct “mouse fur” and new carpets and rubber pads were installed. The foam in both seats was replaced. The attention to detail is very impressive and the car is as nice underneath as topside. Because of the fresh rebuild, the engine bay is very clean and nicely detailed, with the 4.4 liter V-12 making very impressive power and torque, and all the right sounds. The suspension is firm yet compliant, and the brakes stop the car effectively and evenly. All the switches and gauges are fully operational, including the Becker Mexico cassette radio. Thanks to the Factory power steering and front mounted gearbox, the controls on all C/4s are light to the touch and operate seamlessly. The syncros work smoothly, the clutch grips quickly and the car can be thrown into corners with ease and confidence. The 365 GTC/4 has long been known to have the best exhaust sound of any of the Enzo-era Ferraris and so has a wonderful exhaust shriek through the entire RPM range. The body is mirror straight and the paint is blemish and dent-free. The chrome and stainless trim, gaskets, window glass and lenses are all in excellent condition and the black rubber bumpers are as-new. The car sits on the correct Cromodora 7 1/2 x 15 wheels with a full set of new and period-correct Michelin 215/70 VR 15 XWX tires. 365 GTC/4 s/n 15787 is as spectacular underneath as it is on top and will not disappoint. While 365 GTC/4 s/n 15787 has never been on the show car circuit, it looks great, runs great, is very well detailed, has a great story, comes with all the needed backup documents, plus the original leather pouch, owner’s manual and parts book, tool kit and related goodies needed for a Platinum level win at your next FCA show.
