We are pleased to offer 1975 Ferrari 308 GT4 s/n 10046 GT, a nicely documented and well maintained US model 308 GT/4, from new in black with red leather seats and black carpets. Only 34,805 original miles with all service docs back to the second owner in 1987. Complete with the full set of original Factory Ferrari tools, in their tool roll, plus the jack kit with the jack, jack ratchet handle, tire iron and spare light bulbs and fuses in their plastic container and still fitted with it’s original period-correct Blaupunkt AM/FM cassette stereo.

308 GT/4 s/n 10046 was sold new in 1975 by Luigi Chinetti Motors to Geraldino Kropf, Rosyln heights, NY. On 09 March, 1987 s/n 10046 was sold to Carl Klein, an ex-Korean war pilot flying an MD11 for American airlines who paid $16,000. Under Carl’s ownership she was stripped to bare metal and repainted in the original black over 1989- 1991 by Rick’s Custom Emporium, Holmdel, NJ. The engine and gearbox were rebuilt by Yeager Automotive Inc., Belmar, NJ with payment made over six invoices for $3,416.45; $1,004.86; $1,060.00; $1,338.78; $1,690.22 and $1,543.25. In 1993 she was fitted with all new interior carpets and trunk carpets in black with red piping by Automat Inc. of Hicksville, NY. Carl Klein died in 2013 and 308 GT/4 s/n 10046 went to Carl’s girlfriend, Lorraine Smith of Neptune, New jersey. In July 2016 308 GT/4 s/n 10046 was treated to a major cam-belt service by Yeager Automotive Inc., Belmar, New Jersey. The work included new cam and accessory belts, new cam-belt tensioner bearings, an oil and filter change, fresh coolant, a new battery and new front sway bar bushings. The total invoice was $5,582.69. When the cam-belt service was completed 308 GT/4 s/n 10046 was sold to to Carl Klein’s best friend (and fellow American Airlines MD11 pilot) Norman Cerasoli. Unfortunately Norman Cerasoli had a stroke in 2017 and so 308 GT/4 s/n 10046 was only driven when Norman’s son would take his father for a ride in the 308. In Nov., of 2021 Norman died and so the 308 GT/4 came to us through one of Norman’s sons, Jeffrey Cerasoli, a pilot for Southwest airlines. We have copies of all major invoices and work orders back to 1997 on file, although many are very faded.

Unlike previous Pininfarina designs, the Bertone design was penned by Marcello Gandini and personally guided by Enzo Ferrari himself, giving an innovative, linear and angular style, challenging the former rounded architecture of the previous decades. The 308 GT/4 featured a sizable trunk, room behind the front seats for luggage or small passengers, and reasonable access to the transverse mounted dual overhead cam V8 engine, a first for Ferrari. The seating position was pushed forward, creating fantastic visibility, excellent balance and go-kart like handling. The 5-speed synchromesh transaxle allowed for smooth shifts, bringing all of 240hp (in US trim) to the rear wheels, returning excellent performance for the period. In 1977, Ferrari dropped the Dino name entirely, branding all subsequent GT4 models as Ferraris.

Today, this well maintained and matching numbers Ferrari GT4 presents in remarkably nice condition and has covered only 34,805 original miles, or just over 750 mile per year, on average. The thirty-one year old exterior paint has the usual minor chips one would expect and has minor rust on the right rear wheel arch. The panel fit is excellent on the doors and deck lids, the hood and the headlight doors. The front and rear bumpers are in excellent shape and are very nicely aligned to the body. All window glass seems to be original to the car. The lighting and plastic lenses are also in very good condition. Still fitted with the original “Dino” hood and wheel emblems and the Dino 308 GT/4 script is on the rear body panel. The stainless steel front windshield trim, the door opening “greenhouse” trim and door window trim are all in excellent condition and show “as-new”. The wheels are fitted with 205/70 VR 14 Pirelli P5 tires which are due for replacement and the passenger side mirror needs replacement.

The interior is in exceptional condition for a forty-seven year old Ferrari with soft and supple leather on the seats and door panels, a blemish free dash and an unmarked headliner, although there is minor wear to the driver’s side seat piping from the driver sliding into the car. The switch gear, the original Blaupunkt AM/FM cassette stereo and A/C controls are present and in good condition, nestled inside the center console. Under the hood, the car presents a very clean numbers-matching engine. The underside of the car is clean with some very minimal under-valance scuffing, as one would expect on a forty-seven year old Ferrari. The front fender Scuderia badges are hand painted and show well.

308 GT/4 s/n 10046 starts easily, warm or cold, and settles into a smooth idle. Throttle response is excellent and the exhaust system makes all the right sounds. On the road and at speed, the driver position and forward stance makes for a light, user-friendly Ferrari with go-kart like handling.308 GT/4 s/n 10046 is complete with all service docs back to the second owner in 1987 and the full set of original Factory Ferrari tools, in their tool roll, plus the jack kit with the jack, jack ratchet handle, tire iron and spare light bulbs and fuses in their plastic container and still fitted with it’s original period-correct Blaupunkt AM/FM cassette stereo. Also comes a loose leaf binder with the 1997-2016 service invoices. We have copies of all major invoices and work orders back to 1997 on file, although many are very faded. Priced to sell at $69,750 or best offer.
