The Testarossa was introduced at the 1984 Paris Auto Show as a formidable competitor to Lamborghini’s Countach thanks, in part, to its all-new 4-valve heads putting out 380 bhp at 6300 rpm. Motivated by the four valve version of Ferrari’s horizontally opposed twelve cylinder engine, the Testarossa was quick and made all the right sounds. Stylistically the Testarossa stunned the world with its avant garde styling. Long, low and wide, the Testarossa appeared even more so thanks to the extensive use of horizontal slatting, a feature that would be replicated both on other Ferraris and on many other lesser cars. As an evolution of the 512 BB, the Testarossa placed the radiators on each side of the car, adding a full 12″ of additional width while also increasing the wheelbase of the former Boxer platform. Thanks to its user friendly cabin and creature comforts the Testarossa was very plush with inviting leather seats, rear shelf, headliner, and visors. Beneath these striking features was a surprisingly organic and handsome form that remains as arresting today as it was over thirty years ago. The trunk is cavernous and the car very comfortable and easy to drive, making it an ideal way to cover long distances at high speeds in comfort. Top speed was good for 180 mph while 0-60 took just 5.2 seconds. Today the Testarossa is undoubtedly the bargain of the flat-12 Ferrari world, offering stunning good lucks, unique styling, acres of torque and effortless performance at a buyer-friendly price!

1986 Testarossa s/n 66687 is an early single mirror car, with the mirror placed high on the driver’s side A-pillar, known in Italian as “monospecchio” or “single mirro,”, to differentiate from the later cars’ dual side mirrors. Early cars were also unique in their center-lock “knock-off” wheels and the odometer mounted at the bottom of the center console instead of on the speedometer head. Testarossa s/n 66687 has just 15,859 miles in total and is in exceptional condition, in keeping with its low miles and massive just-completed service. The body panels, paintwork and body gaps are all exceptionally nice and show very nicely. The front spoiler has just been refinished and shows as new. The factory knock-off wheels have just been powder coated and the BF Goodrich G-Force Sport P225 X 50 X R16 front and P255 X 50 X R16 rear tires are near new. All of the car’s glass and trim remains free of scratches or wear. All rotating switches and related trim parts are in excellent condition. The dashboard is excellent. The wheels have been powder coated and so are “as new”. The leather is very clean and supple with only very minor surface wear on the left bolster of the driver’s seat and driver’s seat pad. The air conditioning has been rebuilt and so blows ice cold. The car’s carpets, floor mats and kick-plates are all in very good condition. The engine compartment and trunk are immaculate. The front trunk carpet is very clean and shows no wear. The engine compartment is very clean and totally original. The chassis and under-body are very clean and damage free. Because of its low original miles and recent major service history, this extremely well-preserved and very desirable monospecchio Testarossa is an all-original and well-kept example. Testarossa s/n 66687 starts instantly and idles with a throaty growl. Driving is both exciting and pleasant with progressive acceleration, great torque and wonderful power on hand.
