We are pleased to offer 1989 Ferrari Testarossa s/n 80958, a one-owner, USA model, just serviced, Testarossa that has had only one obsessive owner from the day first sold thirty-one years ago. Finished from new in excellent Rosso Corsa FER 300/9 red with supple tan leather on the seats, a dark brown dash, center console and door arm rests, with excellent black carpets protected by Prancing Horse throw carpets. Testarossa s/n 80958 is documented back to a copy of the deposit check to Cornes Motors, then the Ferrari Dealer for San Diego, for a new 1989 Testarossa, and the receipt for the deposit, on 17 Oct., 1988, to the new owner. The impressive paperwork continues with the dealer confirmation that the new Testarossa would be supplied at list price and the original (not a copy) bill of sale dated 26 May, 1989. Also comes with a substantial service file which, we believe, has every service invoice from new, which are listed on the history below. Testarossa s/n 80958 also comes with the full set of owner’s handbooks, including the warranty card showing the selling dealer and first (and only) owner, the leather carrying pouch for the books, plus the full tool set, all in as-new condition, all with the correct Ferrari stamp, in their vinyl tool roll, the jack kit and the jack bag with the tire iron and the spare accessory belts.
Earlier this month Testarossa s/n 80958 was treated to a complete 30K engine-out major service, compression and leakdown test and pre-sale inspection that included the following: R&R engine assembly and trans; pressure wash; replace cam belts; new cam seals; new cam belt tensioner bearings; adjust valve clearances; flush/change all fluids; new spark plugs; R&R and overhaul water pump; new coolant hoses and a clutch and brake system flush, plus supplemental work including all electrical connections to the fusebox were cleaned; the air pump was rebuilt; new exhaust check valves were installed; a new hood insulation pad was installed; both of the ECU slow-down modules were replaced; the A/C compressor was serviced and the A/C was updated to R134; new hood shocks were installed; the driver’s side mirror electrical connections were cleaned and the seat belt connections were cleaned. The total invoice was $16,922.20. During the pre-purchase inspection cylinders # 11 and # 12 had high leak down and so the driver’s side cylinder head was removed, sublet for machine work; new intake and exhaust valve guides were installed, the valves were ground to fit and a new cylinder head gasket was fitted. The total invoice was $4,785.70. Call or e-mail us for copies of the invoices and photos of the work in process.

The Testarossa was introduced at the 1984 Paris Auto Show as a formidable yet user–friendly competitor to Lamborghini’s Countach, thanks in part to its all-new 4-valve heads, putting out 380 bhp at 6300 rpm. Motivated by the four valve version of Ferrari’s horizontally opposed flat-twelve cylinder engine, the Testarossa was quick, comfortable and made all the right sounds. Its dramatic side strakes helped to channel air into the dual rear-mounted radiators, which kept both the engine and cabin from overheating. Stylistically, the Testarossa stunned the world with its avant-garde styling. Long, low and wide, the Testarossa appeared even more so thanks to the extensive use of horizontal slatting, a feature that would later be replicated on other Ferraris and on many other lesser cars. Thanks to its user friendly cabin and creature comforts, the Testarossa was very plush with leather seats, rear shelf, headliner and visors. Beneath these striking features was a surprisingly handsome form that remains as stunning today as it was when introduced thirty-six years ago. The front compartment is reasonably sized and the car is very comfortable, has light steering, is easy to drive and has great visibility, making it an ideal way to cover long distances at high speeds in comfort. Top speed was good for 180 mph while 0-60 took just 5.2 seconds. Today, the Testarossa is undoubtedly the bargain of the classical flat-12 Ferrari world, offering stunning good looks, unique styling, acres of torque and effortless performance at a great price!
Today Testarossa s/n 80958 has only 18,642 miles, so an average of only 601 well cared-for miles per year and so is in exceptional condition, in keeping with its well-documented and well-maintained ownership. The paintwork is exceptional and shows very nicely with no noticeable blemishes. Testarossa s/n 80958 is mounted on a set of four excellent BF Goodrich 225/50/ZR16 front and 255/50/ZR16 rear tires. The wheels are in excellent condition with no curbing. All of the car’s glass and trim are scratch and wear free. Panel fit is excellent as one would expect, and the body is straight and true. All switches and related trim parts are in excellent condition with no sticky residue. The dashboard and console have excellent leather. Both seats and door panels have supple leather. The carpets, floor mats and kick-panels are in great shape. The engine compartment and trunk are very clean. The underbody, floor pan and suspension are damage-free, scratch free and so in excellent condition. Because of its full books and tools and extensive recent service history, this well-preserved Testarossa is a stunning example. Runs great, shows and drives as-new and needs nothing, thanks to a just completed engine-out cam belt service plus more at $16,922.20. and a valve refresh at $4,785.70. Testarossa s/n 80958 is pride-of-ownership, one-owner Ferrari priced to sell.
