We are pleased to offer 1995 Porsche 928 GTS s/n 820114, the last year of the Porsche 928 and the 54th of the last group of only 77 total Porsche 928 GTS built for the US market in 1995. Whereas the 911 was a pure sports car, the new 928, introduced in 1977, was to be a refined, luxurious, and sophisticated car that could effortlessly cover great distances at high speed, yet still offered Porsche’s legendary comfort, confidence and handling. As the last of the 928s, the GTS is by far the most desirable variant of the 928 series. On the GTS models the rear fenders were flared to fit 9-inch wide rear wheels, now 17 inches in diameter. Aero mirrors, a distinctive center rear reflector strip and a body color rear spoiler were also added. The engine size was increased to 5.4 liters with 4-cams and 32-valves, putting out 345hp, with a massive 500 foot pounds of torque. Top speed was good for 170 mph plus, making the 928 GTS the Stuttgart firm’s fastest production car at that time. Unfortunately a loaded GTS models could hit $100k USD in 1995, making them among the most expensive production cars on the road at the time, which slowed sales, despite the model’s high performance and long list of standard equipment. As one of the last 77 US 1995 model 928s built, 928 GTS s/n 820114 has virtually all of the available options including the 12-way dual heated seats, dual A/C, a power sunroof and is finished in an elegant Porsche silver-blue with black leather.
Introduced at the Geneva Salon in 1977 and voted Car of the Year for 1978, the 928 was intended as an up-market replacement for the long-running 911. When introduced the 928 was a stunning technologic tour de force with aluminum doors, hood and front fenders which saved weight. Its integrated polyurethane bumpers were a neat solution to new impact laws that would eventually become the industry standard, and the car was impressively aerodynamic. A transaxle coupled with an engine mounted well back in the chassis helped provide excellent weight distribution. Porsche’s engineers selected a front engined layout, initally fitted with a fuel-injected 4.5 liter, 4-cam, 16-valve alloy V8. The 928 was continuously developed over its 18 year production run, with a substantially upgraded 5.0 liter, 4-cam, 32-valve version of the engine appearing in 1985, significant styling revisions for 1987, and the ultimate iteration of the car appearing for the 1992-95 model years, fitted with the 5.4 liter, 4-cam with 32-valves good for 345hp with massive torque. Production ended in late 1995.

928 GTS s/n 820114 was sold new in Florida in 1995 before going to Germany with only delivery miles, and then returning to Texas in 2002. She remained with Donald McLeod from 2003 until sold to the current owner, in Austin Texas, in Nov., 2007. The current owner, a member of the 928 Owner’s Club, purchased the car after a long search for a fully optioned, last-year vehicle. The car was in very good shape with 87,500 well cared for miles when purchased. Over the next couple of years the current owner, an Air Force flight surgeon, replaced or restored many minor items including the ceramic coating on the intake manifold, (which took three tries to get right after consulting with Porsche in Germany), some of the wiring back to original, etc. The Carfax shows there was accident damage reported on 28 Dec., 2007, in Michigan, but this is incorrect as the car was shipped to the current owner on 12 Nov 2007 and was in his garage in Houston well before 28 Dec 2007. The current owner has driven the cars only 2,500 miles over thirteen years of ownership and would like it to find a loving new home.

The paint is in amazingly good condition, other than minor stone chips to the front of the car. The body is very straight with excellent panel fit and the doors close like a teutonic answer to a Swiss vault. The black leather interior is surprisingly soft and supple, the dash, the console and the black carpets have an excellent patina, the seat bolsters remain full and firm with only minor surface wear and compression on the driver’s seat due to use. The rear jump seats are usable for children or short trips and one of the many interesting features of the car is the rear visors, which shade rear passengers from sunlight coming in the nearly horizontal rear window. The trim is excellent and the wheels are very good, with a handful of small areas of deterioration to the finish but no curb rash. The spacious luggage compartment is accessed via a hatch back, and the compartment itself is trimmed in carpet to match the interior, which is excellent. Under the hood, the very nicely finished 5.4 liter, 4-cam, 32-valve engine is nicely sorted and has been restored with the correct factory finishes, ceramic coatings and plug wires. The frame, the floor pan and all lower panels are rust, dent and damage free. It is extremely clean.

The engine starts easily and is tremendously torquey. The car has an impressive solidity that reminds the driver of an SL series Mercedes. The brakes are formidable and the ride is thoroughly refined and comfortable, yet rapid and highly capable at the same time. This is an excellent opportunity to acquire a 928 GTS in great colors with 90,082 original miles and only two well document owners over seventeen years. Complete with the original spare wheel and tire, the factory supplied air compressor for the spare tire in its carrying case, the full set of original tools, the full set of books in their black carrying case, with the owner’s manual, the warranty book, the maintenance book and the Factory radio booklet plus a factory workshop manual on CD. Also comes with the original key plus two spare keys and the key fob. The GTS is an extremely rare variant, with less than 1000 units built in each year of production and only 77 built cars built for the US market for 1995. They are becoming increasingly collectible and 928 GTS s/n 820114 is an excellent example.
