Introduced in 1964, the Ford GT40 was developed as a purpose-built endurance racing car to challenge Ferrari at the world’s most demanding events. Its lightweight, low-slung chassis and powerful mid-mounted Ford V8 evolved through several competition versions, culminating in a historic 1-2-3 finish at the 1966 24 Hours of Le Mans. With four consecutive Le Mans victories from 1966 through 1969, the GT40 became one of the most celebrated racing cars in motorsport history.
