Introduced in 1966, the De Tomaso Mangusta combined dramatic Italian design with powerful American V8 performance. Designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro at Ghia, its low-slung body featured distinctive center-hinged gullwing-style engine covers and a mid-mounted Ford V8. Built in very limited numbers, the Mangusta established De Tomaso as a serious performance car manufacturer and remains one of the most distinctive Italian-American sports cars of the 1960s.
