Introduced in 1970, the De Tomaso Pantera combined dramatic Italian design with powerful American V8 performance. Designed by Tom Tjaarda at Ghia, its mid-engine layout paired a Ford 351-cubic-inch Cleveland V8 with a five-speed ZF transmission. Blending exotic styling, strong performance, and relatively accessible mechanical components, the Pantera became De Tomaso’s most successful production model and one of the defining Italian-American sports cars of its era.
