We are pleased to offer 2014 Bentley Continental GT3 s/n 009, Bentley’s most recent addition to over ninety years of motorsport lineage going back to the 1927, 1928, 1929 and 1930 Le Mans 24 hour winning 4½ Litre and most recently the 2003 Le Mans 24 hour winning Bentley Speed 8. Unveiled as a Concept car at the 2012 Paris and 2012 LA Auto Shows and debut as ready-to-test in Europe at the 2013 Goodwood Festival of Speed, the GT3 was driven at Goodwood by Bentley Boy and 2003 Le Mans champion, Guy Smith. As the Gentleman’s weapon of choice to compete and win in multiple international sprint and endurance series and championships, the GT3 is a rear-wheel-drive pure-race car version of Continental GT V8 coupe. Power comes from Bentley’s Cosworth-developed 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine rated at 600 hp, putting the power to the ground through an Xtrac six-speed sequential rear-mounted gearbox with a limited-slip differential, a lightweight carbon fiber driveshaft and independent rear suspension. Lightweight 18 x 13-inch OZ Racing wheels and massive 310/710R18 tires backed with series-mandated ventilated iron disc brakes front and rear and Brembo 6/4-piston front/rear calipers put that power to the ground and provide massive braking to haul it down from speed. A steering wheel mounted paddle operated gear shift and hydraulic power-assisted steering makes for a user-friendly cockpit while a front and rear double wishbone suspension, four-way adjustable shocks and race-specification ABS and traction control handle the corners. An FIA-specification steel roll cage, Sparco six-point FIA safety harness, onboard fire extinguisher and an FIA-specification racing fuel cell provides driver safety. The onboard air jack system makes for quick tire changes. The all-alloy chassis and a largely carbon-fiber body weigh only 1300kg. The chassis is wrapped in wind-tunnel tested aerodynamic body panels mated with an equally massive carbon-fiber rear wing which provide the track-hugging aerodynamics. The Bentley GT3 was an in-house design by a specialist team of engineers from Bentley Motors supported by the Continental GT3 Technical Partner, M-Sport Ltd. and Cosworth Engineering.
The Bentley GT3 entered its first development races before starting full competition in the FIA Blancpain Series in 2014. Bentley GT3s went on to compete in the European Le Mans Series; the Pirelli World Challenge; both the Blancpain Sprint Series and the Blancpain Endurance Series; the International GT Open; the Asian GT3 Championship; the Asian Le Mans Series; the GTSprint and Supercar Challenge and many other national GT3 Championships including the British GT, the Italian GT, the French GT, the Australian GT Championship and more. In May 2014, the factory team won the Silverstone round of the Blancpain Endurance Series, Bentley’s first official entry in a British GT race since the 1930 RAC Tourist Trophy. In the last four years Bentley’s GT3 has proven to be a championship-winning endurance racer, scoring 120 podiums and 45 wins across 528 races around the world.
