We are pleased to offer 2018 California T s/n 228295, a highly optioned, one-owner, drop-top Ferrari with only 3,705 miles, finished in an elegant and desirable color combination. The California was first introduced at the 2008 Paris Auto Show as Ferrari’s first front engined V8; the first to feature a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission and the first hard-top convertible with a folding-metal-roof that is simply mechanical-magic to watch in action. Seven out of every ten California’s were sold to first-time Ferrari buyers, guys—and thousands of gals—who might otherwise have bought a top-of-the-line Mercedes, Aston Martin or a Bentley. When introduced the California’s 4.3 liter V8 was good for 453 hp at 7,750 rpm, good enough for a top speed of 193 mph! In 2012 the California was updated to the California 30, so called because it was 30 kg or 66 lbs lighter and had an additional 30 hp, upping total power to 483 hp and the top speed to 194 mph.
In 2014 the California T (with “T” meaning turbo) was introduced (as a 2015 model) at the Geneva Motor Show as the final evolution of the California, with new front sheet metal influenced by the F12. The grille was enlarged, the headlights were pulled back in the fenders and two broad hood vents were added for engine bay cooling. The most successful changes come at the rear as hiding a folded hardtop without eliminating trunk space was always going to make for a rather matronly rump, but by lowering the trunk lip fractionally and employing visual tricks like orienting the tailpipes horizontally instead of vertically and enlarging the diffuser, Ferrari created the impression of a much lower, wider car. A new interior featured an updated dash and very comfortable form fitting, leather-clad seats, making for low wind and tire noise levels. An all-new 3,855 cc twin turbocharged flat plane crankshaft V8 with a maximum boost of 18.9 psi produced 553 hp at 7,500 rpm, good enough for a top speed of 196 mph! It is interesting to note that Ferrari didn’t turbocharge the Cal T merely to increase power; it also did so to reduce emissions and improve efficiency. In addition, higher gearing inside the Cal T’s seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox improves fuel economy by about 15 percent. Even better, the optional Magneride Dual Mode Suspension package offers great handling, excellent balance, a much improved exhaust sound and new gearbox software, while the carbon-ceramic brakes haul it down from any speed with ferocity!

2018 California T s/n 228295 was sold new by Boardwalk Ferrari in Plano, Texas and, as a low mileage one-owner car, has lived in Texas since new. Watching the power top in action, going from down-to-up or vice-versa, in a mere 14 seconds, is a show unto itself! She comes with all the goodies including two keys; the owner’s manual in it’s pouch; the full tool set in its case; the air compressor; the battery tender and the red Factory car cover in its carrying bag. It even has the Factory white gloves, in their small red bag, should a tire change be necessary! An interesting feature of the “T” is a circular digital boost gauge, mounted between the dashboards circular air vents, which monitors the turbo boost, turbo response and turbo efficiency. It is essentially a glorified clock, but it’s great fun to watch in action.
In the first three gears the power and torque curve are monitored so you get the full power surge only by going for the red-line. But in the upper ratios, thanks to 18.9 lbs of boost, one gets the full push of effortless torque. The California T is a rev-happy supercar one minute or can be a relaxed cruiser the next, depending on your mood. Thanks to the Magneride Dual Mode Suspension Handling package the chassis gives awesome traction and cornering control when driven hard, yet becomes a very civilized ride when relaxed. With the roof-up, there’s little noise to betray it isn’t a coupe. With the roof-down, cockpit turbulence is minimal. With a total production of all California variants about 17,300 cars, the California is and was a major marketing success for Ferrari. At only 3,705 miles California T s/n 228295 is essentially a new Ferrari. Both the panel fit and the paintwork are perfect. The lower rockers, door edges, fuel filler, side mirrors, front lights, and the entire front end are all essentially new. The lights and glass are excellent and the wheels are free of curbing. The interior is also excellent, with no appreciable signs of wear. The carpets, leather, and dashboard are all as-new. The engine compartment and the trunk are also all as-new. For those who like their own sounds, rather than the sound of the flat-crank V8, the California is the first Ferrari road car to feature the then-new Apple CarPlay functionality into its built-in infotainment system and is the last model to still have a CD changer. The California T is a car your wife would love to drive to her Pilates class, yet it will humble your neighbors F40 thanks to 80 more hp than an F40 and a 0-to-60 time a full second faster than than an F40!!
