Spyder engine Tipo 251 with Numero Interno # 1264, the original engine from Euro model 1971
Ferrari 365 GTS/4 Daytona Spyder s/n 14605.

1971 Euro model Ferrari 365 GTS/4 s/n 14605 was sold new to Geneva, Switzerland and was
registered on Swiss plates GE-5192/Z. On 10 May, 1976, 365 GTS/4 s/n 14605 was imported into
the US by Luigi Chinetti Motors, Greenwich, CT. As per the Luigi Chinetti internal invoice (shown in
our photo selection) 365 GTS/4 s/n 14695 was modified for “US conversion- R &R engine, swap with
U. S. legal in showroom. Modify lighting system – modify all other components to comply with U.S.
standards.”

Engine number B 1264 is confirmed to be the original engine from 365 GTS/4 s/n 14605 by our
database, by fellow Ferrari historian Marcel Massini and by the original invoice that is shown in
our photo selection documenting the engine swap by Luigi Chinetta Motors. This engine # B 1264
is one of six engines we are selling from the estate of Richard “Dick” DeBiasse, an old-school Italian
engine builder and owner of Dark Horse motors in Madison, New Jersey.

Working from the top down the engine has the full set of Euro spec Weber 40 DCN 21 carbs with
the intake manifolds and carb linkage. Also included are a pair of the correct Magneti Marelli S85F
distributors with their stands. Engine # 1264 also comes with a matched pair of N.O.S. (New Old
Stock) never-used US model cylinder heads with valves, springs, retainers and cam caps. Also
included is a second matched pair of bare Euro model cylinder heads and a third pair of cylinder
heads, one a US spec and the second a Euro spec, with cam camps. The cam caps are all number
matching. The only difference between the US and Euro spec cylinder heads is that the US heads
are drilled for air injection tubes, so the heads are virtually identical and interchangeable. Also
included are all four cams and cam covers and a second damaged chain cover. A second set of inner
and outer valve springs is also included. A set of all four Euro model headers is included. The Euro
model headers are much more equal length than the US model headers and so are better flowing
giving more bolt-on horsepower.

Block # 1264 has all number matching four-bolt main caps and comes with two crankshafts, one
we believe is N.O.S. while the second crank has slight blueing and might need to be machined.
A new set of main and rod bearings is with the car and still in their plastic wrapper. Also included
with the block is a set of twelve polished connection rods with new bushings and matching caps
plus a new set of Weisco 3.198 Forged High Performance pistons with piston pins and a full set of
liners. Also included is the flywheel and a new AP clutch and pressure plate assembly.

The front covers seems to be complete with all gears, the water pump and the water pump housing,
the chain tensioner and the oil filter housing. Also included are the oil pump gears and the pickup in
the sump. A starter motor in also included. Bags of studs and fasteners are also included. Please
