F1 Tipo 639 For Sale | Classic & Collector Models

Developed in 1988, the Ferrari F1 Tipo 639 was an experimental Formula 1 prototype designed by John Barnard for the transition to naturally aspirated 3.5-liter engines. Powered by Ferrari’s new V12, it pioneered the revolutionary electrohydraulic semi-automatic paddle-shift transmission that would transform Formula 1. Although the 639 never raced, its extensive development program provided the foundation for the 1989 Ferrari 640 and helped establish technology that would eventually become standard throughout motorsport.
