We are pleased to offer 1961 Ferrari 250 TR “Sharknose” Recreation s/n 13123. This very striking one-owner 250 TR “Sharknose” recreation was one of two cars built to order in 1991–1994 by Mark Gerisch of M & L Auto Specialists, Inc. in Wisconsin, the builder of many 250/330 GTO, SWB and TR replicars. The body replicates both the 250 TR Sharknose and the 196 SP prototypes. The owner who commissioned this car is a very knowledgeable enthusiast with a very large collection. 1961 Ferrari 250 TR “Sharknose” has been in the same private collection for over twenty years and is fully maintained, well sorted and ready to go. Maintained since new by Vintage Racing Motors, Seattle. It comes complete with 2″ of work orders and 3″ of original photos documenting the entire construction process, with invoices for all parts supplied and work done.
The 250 TR chassis was built using lightweight tubing based on the original Factory plans for the 61 TR chassis and are to the proper dimensions, wheelbase, suspension pickup points, spring boxes, etc.. The fully-independent four-wheel suspension was built to duplicate the 1961 Ferrari 250 TR specifications. An original 365 GT 2+2 gearbox is used and so has the correct shift pattern and is bullet-proof. The alloy differential is fully independent. Has a riveted fuel tank. Fitted with the correct Borrani wire wheels and Dunlop racing tires. Full alloy body hand-beaten as per original. Fitted with a full bellypan.

1975, March, offered in the NY Times by Syd Silverman, White Plains, NY: Silver metallic blue with dark blue interior. USA specifications. 20,000 miles.

1985, May, sold to Scott Potter, TX.
1987, in a note to Gerald Roush from Tim Chinn, Eugene, OR: He was being offered this car with “no engine, no gauges, no wheels…and no title.” Subsequent investigation revealed title was being held by bank in Texas which had loaned against the car to Scott Potter. This loan dated to May 1985 when Potter purchased the car, sans engine, from Glen Sipe, Competition Cars, Chattanooga, TN.
1991, July, offered in the LA Times, in California: No engine. Mostly complete. Sold to Mark Gerisch, M & L Auto Specialists, Inc. WI.
1991–1994, converted to a 250 TR 61 “Sharknose” Replica by Mark Gerisch of M & L Auto Specialists, Inc. in Wisconsin, the builder of many 250/330 GTO, SWB and TR replicars. Commissioned by a very knowledgeable enthusiast. Documented by 2″ of work orders and 3″ of photos of the construction process, with invoices for all parts supplied and work done. Built based on original Factory plans for the 61 TR chassis to the proper wheelbase, independent suspenion, suspension pickup points, etc.. The suspension was built to replicate the 1961 Ferrari 250 TR specifications. Fitted with 250 engine #4915 GT. Only the front cross member, suspension, brakes and transmission were used from 365 GT 2+2 s/n 13123.
1993, engine supplied by Barry Watkins as a brand new rebuilt 250 s/n 4915 with Lusso heads and 168 timing chest. Later fitted with 6-carbs.
1994, July, a TR 61 “Sharknose” Replica driven in the Chicago Historic Races, Elkhart Lake, WI, USA (See Cavallino #83 p37).
