We are pleased to offer 1988 1/2 USA model 328 GTS s/n 77741, a Ferrari Classiche “Red Book” certified, two-owner Ferrari Spyder with documentation back to the original Warranty Card listing the selling dealer and the first owner. From new in Rosso Corsa FER 300/6 with tan leather and treated to an engine-out re-seal and 30k cam-belt service only seven months ago. S/n 77741 was sold new by Ferrari Houston, the authorized Ferrari dealer for Houston and in 1995 was sold to the second (and current) owner, also based in Houston. S/n 77741 is supplied with the full set of three owner’s books including the original warranty card listing the first owner and selling dealer, the owner’s instruction manual, the dealer listing booklet, plus their leather carrying pouch. Also comes with the tool roll and all tools, all in as-new condition plus the vinyl cover for stoage of the removable Targa top. 328 GTS s/n 77741 also comes with a voluminous file folder of service records from 1988 to 1995 while with the first owner and a detailed photo album of all service and ownership records from 1995 to earlier this year while with the second (and current) owner. Clean Carfax, of course. We have the Carfax plus over one hundred pages of original invoices and service documents for every major (and minor) services on file. Feel free to e-mail us for selected scanned copies. The Rosso Corsa FER 300/6 paint is exceptionally nice and appears to be all original. All panels have excellent gaps and fit and s/n 77741 doesn’t have the usual small pressure dents on the upper rear lip of the rear deck lid. There is no evidence of accident repairs to the body, underside or chassis. The trim, gaskets, window glass and lenses are also in excellent condition. The tan leather on the seats and door panels is in excellent condition, has never been dyed and the driver’s seat bolster shown almost no wear. The dash covering and headliner are also in good condition, especially considering that 1988 1/2 328 GTS s/n 77741 is now almost 32 years old! The carpets have been protected by throw rugs and are also in excellent condition. The car had excellent drivability. All systems were well sorted before the current service and are even better thanks to the recent service! It goes straight with no shimmy and brakes in a straight line “hands-off”. Thanks to the recent engine-out service the engine bay is nicely detailed and the under panels, belly pan and suspension are in good condition. The 1988 1/2 328 model upgrade began in February 1988 beginning with s/n 76626 and so 328 GTS s/n 77741 features the unique convex hub 16-inch alloy wheels and a redesign of the suspension geometry to provide negative offset, plus both of the door mirrors also feature a small Cavallino Rampante emblem. She is mounted on a set of four near-new Pirelli Cinturato 205/55R 16 front and 225/50R 16 rear tires.

Only seven months ago, in May, H & S Motorsports, based at 6125 West Sam Houston Parkway North, in Houston, performed an engine-out cam-belt and re-seal service. H & S Motorsports removed and re-install the engine and transaxle, separated the engine from the gearbox, replaced the differential seals, re-sealed the differential cover, replaced the shift seals, replaced the front crank seal, fitted new timing belts and tensioner bearings, adjusted the valves and re-timed the engine. New cam seals, cam cover gaskets and distributor seals were installed. A new water pump and thermostat were installed A new fuel pressure accumulator was also installed. All new accessory belts were installed. Fresh engine and gearbox oil and new coolant were added. A new battery was installed. The headlight switch was rebuild. The total invoice $16,209.13.

The 328 succeeded the highly popular 308 for the 1986 model year and offered a larger and more powerful V-8 plus a myriad of detail improvements throughout. The mid-engine 328 featured an upgraded 3.2-liter V-8 putting out 260 horsepower, thanks to a sophisticated Marelli MED 806 A electronic ignition system and Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection. Top speed was good for 166 mph. The styling was freshened with new seat patterns, new door handles and tidier and more modern treatment to the front and rear bumpers, both of which were painted in body color. The controls were significantly reworked as well, with new switch gear and revised dashboard and door trims. The 1988 1/2 model also featured small Cavallino Rampante emblems on the side view door mirrors. Production of the 328 ended in the fall of 1989, marking the end of the transverse mid-engine Ferraris, a line that began with the 206 Dino. As one of the last Ferraris engineered and launched during Enzo Ferrari’s lifetime and as the last of the pre-computer Ferraris, the 328s are sought after for their blend of usability and comparable reliability, as well as the comparative ease of servicing, owing to the simplicity of in-car engine service work and cam-belt replacements. Thanks to the 328’s low sweeping body lines and the sounds of the well-proven, high-revving V-8 right behind your seat, every trip to dinner or to your local Cars & Coffee gathering is a great driving experience.

The current owner purchased s/n 77741 in early 1995, with 4,926 miles and then had s/n 77741 trucked to his second home in Connecticut in 1977. In late 1998 the owner shipped s/n 77741 by container to Europe where s/n 77741 was kept in Zurich where she was stored and serviced by Garage Foitek in Zurich. When serviced by Garage Foitek in 1998 the mileage (not kilometers) was stated as 7,937 miles. The speedometer was replaced by a Kilometers reading odometer. When 328 GTS s/n 77741 returned by air cargo to Texas in Oct., 2006 and was serviced by Ferrari Houston, the kilometer speedo was recorded as 10,639 kms and replaced with a US Speedo showing 6,610 miles. Today 328 GTS s/n 77741 shows 8,237 miles but the actual mileage is probably between 15,000 and 20,000 miles.

Thanks to a $16,209.13 engine-out cam-belt and re-seal service by H & S Motorsports, only seven months ago, plus a full complement of books, tools, targa top cover and over one hundred pages of obsessively recorded and detailed service history, 328 GTS s/n 77741 is a great looking, great sounding, totally sorted, user-friendly and ready to go 1988 1/2 USA model 328 GTS that will not disappoint.
