We are pleased to offer 1963 Ferrari 250 Lusso s/n 4481 GT/L, from new in Blu Notte Metallizzato 18943 Italver (very dark blue metallic) with Pelle Connolly Beige VM 3309 (light tan) leather, and restored today in it’s original dark blue metallic with light tan leather interior. 250 Lusso s/n 4481 GT/L was restored by Motion Products (at an astronomical cost of $388,653.85 for the cosmetics alone) and scored 99 points, winning an elusive Platinum trophy at the Ferrari Club of America annual meet at Columbus, Ohio, on 19 June, 2016. We have hundreds of photos of the restoration in process at Motion products, PDFs of the judging sheets, the Platinum trophy and all invoices from Motion Products on file. Needless to say 250 Lusso s/n 4481 GT/L has the Ferrari Classiche “Red Book” and the “Certificato di autenticita” confirming Lusso s/n 4481 has the original matching numbers engine # 4481 with Numero Interno # 1406/62E and the original matching # transmission and differential. Additionally the chassis number “4481” is stamped or written on the inside of the inner door panels, the chrome trim and the inner body and door opening trim pieces. Lusso s/n 4481 is also fitted with an all-new and correct Abarth exhaust and has its full, original, belly pans.

We know 250 Lusso s/n 4481 GT/L well having sold it for the very long term owner, Riley Kuehn, a Boeing aerospace engineer, in 2010, to the current owner. This Platinum winning 250 Lusso is unusually well documented, complete back to copies of the original 1969 bill of sale and 1969 title when sold to Riley Kuehn, who owned 250 Lusso s/n 4481 GT/L from 1969 to 2010, with lots of service and ownership documentation over Riley Kuehn’s forty-one years of ownership. Just before its sale, Riley Kuehn treated Lusso s/n 4481 to a $40,898.26 engine rebuild and a $7407.66 suspension and brake system rebuild by Alfa of Tacoma. When the mechanics were rebuilt, we sold Lusso s/n 4481 for Riley to the third owner, who wanted to go to the FCA Nationals and wanted to win a “Platinum” award, as so the fourth owner had the body, paint, chassis, chrome and all other cosmetics restored by Motion Products.

250 GT Lusso s/n 4481 was the 52nd Lusso built in the summer of 1963, and was equipped for the Italian home market, where Milano’s flagship Ferrari dealership, Crepaldi S.p.a took delivery soon after completion. S/n 4481 found its first owner in July of 1963, when purchased by Milano resident Mr. Giansaverio Bianchi. The Ferrari returned to Maranello in October of 1963 and in May of 1964, where it was serviced at the factory’s Assistenza Clienti customer service center. The Lusso remained with Mr. Bianchi until 1967, when the second owner, a Mr. Armando Pollini of Vigevano, Italy purchased it. 4481 remained with Mr. Pollini until 1969, when it was purchased by Mr. Riley Kuehn of Seattle, Washington. Mr. Kuehn was naturally very fond of his wonderful Lusso, keeping it for the next 41 years. Mr. Kuehn’s long and careful ownership underlines the reason why 4481 remains in such well kept and low mileage condition today.

The 250 Lusso was the last of the legendary 250 GT road cars and thanks to exquisite Pininfarina coachwork, the 250 Lusso remains one of the most aesthetically pleasing and best driving Ferrari road cars ever produced. With only 350 cars built, the 250 Lusso has always been the most collectable of the 250 GT road going Berlinettas. Thanks to a sweet running V–12, a Watts link rear suspension, a well spaced gearbox and disc brakes, the Lusso handles and drives as nicely as it looks. Built on a short-wheelbase chassis similar to that of the 250 GT SWB and 250 GTO, the Lusso was powered by Colombo’s light and compact 3-liter V12. Breathing through three twin- choke Weber carburetors, the all-aluminum, two-cam V12 produced 250bhp at 7,500rpm, giving the Lusso a top speed of 150mph (240km/h) blistering fast, for it’s time.

250 Lusso s/n 4481 GT is complete with the very rare original build sheets, the original tool roll and tools, the Kurt Miska “Berlinetta Lusso” book and the Merritt “Operating handbooks” plus Factory correspondence. With only four documented owners from new, a platinum winning restoration and with its original, matching numbers engine, chassis and body intact, this extraordinary Ferrari represents an opportunity to acquire a superb example of one of the finest and most widely respected GT cars ever produced by any manufacturer. 250 Lusso s/n 4481 shows just over 85,700 Kilometers (53,200 miles) on the odometer, a figure that is believed to be the car’s mileage from new. The Ferrari retains its original keys, and the one for the door even fits the trunk too — quite unusual for a classic car of this vintage. We welcome any mechanical or body inspection, as we do not believe there is a Lusso that can compare in today’s market in this price range. Ready for any touring event or show. Price on application.
