We are pleased to offer 1985 US model 308 GTS QV s/n 54617, from new in the very elegant color combination of Bianco FER 100 Glasurit (white) with Rosso Nero (dark red leather) with black piping and red carpets. 308 GTS QV s/n 54617 comes with a well-documented ownership history and paper trail, starting on 08 Jan., 1985 with the sale by FAF (today Ferrari Atlanta) to Dyer & Dyer Inc., Chamblee, GA. Further documentation Includes eight separate service records from FAF dated 1985 to 1987, back in the distant days when a visit to a Ferrari dealer for minor service work left change from a $100 dollar bill! In 1987 308 GTS QV s/n 54617 went to her second owner, Doug Scaramer in the Pittsburgh PA, area. In 1989 s/n 54617 was sold to her third owner, Brian Walton, in Salt Lake City, Utah. As per Mike Call who was the sales/general manager from 1996 to 2014 at Steve Harris Imports, (then the authorized Ferrari dealer for Utah), Brian Walton would come in every few years, ask for the price for a cam belt service and then proclaim that the quote was too high and leave. Brian Walton died and s/n 54617 transferred to his daughter, Brandie. About 2015 Brandie Walton had the car serviced by Paul Manukyan, then a mechanic for Steve Harris Imports. Paul did a cam belt service at his home/garage as Brandie didn’t want to pay the dealers price. The car then went back into storage, becoming a barn find, parked for decades, other than the service in 2015, before coming to Mike and Colleen Sheehan’s Ferraris-Online with 33,595 miles. We have the owners manual, warranty and service book, the leather carrying pouch, all early service docs, a detailed invoice for this months “get it running” service at $6,474.08 and a clean Carfax on file, call or e-mail us for copies.

When introduced by Ferrari, the quattrovalvole engine (literally meaning “four valves” in Italian) pushed the engine power up to 240 hp, this increase in engine power restored the performance that was previously lost to the emission control equipment in the earlier 2-valve model 308s. The QV featured a slim louvered panel in the front lid to aid radiator exhaust air to exit, power operated mirrors, and a redesigned front grille with rectangular driving lights on each side. Thanks to the improved horsepower and the easy-to-shift gearbox, the quattrovalvole’s offer a wonderfull driving experience. The gearbox syncros work smoothly, the clutch is light to use but grips quickly and the QV’s can be thrown into corners with total ease and confidence, due to the great handling characteristics. Performance through the RPM range is excellent and a thrill, when fully serviced, thanks to the smooth power and torque curve of the final evolution of the 308 engine.

308 GTS QV s/n 54617 has just completed a major pre-sale, “get it running”, inspection and service by Dugan Enterprises in Oceanside, CA. The work included draining all gas from the fuel system, a new electric fuel pump, a new hose from the gas tank to the fuel pump, a replacement cross-over tube drain plug and a new fuel accumulator. A safety check included checking the tire pressures and wheel torque; checking the oil and coolant levels, adding oil and brake fluid, a check of the headlights, brake lights and turn signal lights and a test drive. Further pre-sale work included checking the fuel injectors, spark plugs and throttle linkage and replacing the vacuum hose from the throttle body to the fuel injector warm up regulator. Additional work included flushing and bleeding the brake system for much improved braking. A cooling system inspection required the replacement of the coolant hose from the expansion tank to the “Y” manifold underneath the intake manifold and the replacement of the radiator fan thermal switch. The total invoice for parts and labor was $6,474.08. Copy on file, call or e-mail for a copy.

The body on s/n 54617 shows no evidence of accident or rust repairs to the body, underside, or the chassis. The body, paint, and the interior are all original and in good condition but the previous owner spray painted a shot of primer over three chips in the left front wheel well opening, three spots on the left rear fender and one spot on the right rear fender. There are also several small dents in the rear engine lid. We have an estimate from the paint shop we use for $3,800 to repaint the entire nose, both rear fenders and the engine deck lid. The trim, gaskets, window glass and lenses are in good condition. The interior is finished in nice original dark red leather. The driver’s seat has wear to the driver’s seat bolster as one would expect from a 39 year old car. We have an estimate of $2,500 to re-do the piping on the driver’s seat. The door panels, carpets and dash are all in good condition.

To be on the safe-side 308 GTS QV s/n 54617 should be treated to a 30k mile cam-belt service which includes new cam belts and cam seals, new accessory belts and hoses, new tensioner bearings, plugs, fuel hoses, a new A/C receiver drier, fresh R134 Freon, a new water pump, engine and trans oil changed, the coolant flushed plus and a full set of tires, all of which can be done for $8-$10k. 308 GTS QV comes with its 1985 to 2024 service and ownership file, the warranty card with the selling dealers info and the first owner’s name, the owner’s leather carrying pouch and all books. 308 GTS QV s/n 54617 offers a user-friendly price point, an unusual yet desirable color combination and supporting documentation back to its first sale. Thanks to the just-completed service work and 33,609 miles, 308 GTS QV s/n 54617 is priced to sell at $74,950 or best offer.
